Michael is the Head of Department for Sotheby’s Mei Moses, the auction house’s art market research & analytics division. The team leverages a market-leading methodology developed by NYU Stern School of Business professors JP Mei and Michael Moses in 2000 and acquired by Sotheby’s in 2016. As the Head of the department, Michael is responsible for overseeing art market analysis and bringing market & pricing insights to clients. He has published original analysis of the art market on topics such as female artists, artist deaths, and museum retrospectives.
Michael previously worked at Deloitte Consulting LLP as a management consultant in the Strategy & Operations division. In addition to advising Fortune 500 companies in the banking, insurance, media, and industrials sectors, Michael was a member of Deloitte’s Art & Finance practice. This team produces an annual Deloitte Art & Finance Report published in partnership with ArtTactic, hosts an annual conference, and advises corporations and family offices. Before Deloitte, Michael began his career in investment banking focused on mergers & acquisition advisory at Blackstone Advisory Partners and Morgan Stanley.
Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Dartmouth College with a double major in Economics and Geography, and an additional concentration in Art History.
